“Unfaithful One” was written by Cliff Bruner and Lessie Lyle. Bruner, a Texas fiddler and Western swing bandleader, recorded it with his Texas Wanderers in 1949.
The song is a heartbreak number aimed straight at a faithless lover. The singer addresses the unfaithful one directly, naming the betrayal and the pain it caused, and the lyric carries both the hurt and the reproach.
The Bluegrass Album Band, the group built around J.D. Crowe and Tony Rice, recorded the song in the early 1980s for one of its volumes.
