The Road That Winds cover

The Road That Winds (Patuxent Music CD-289, 2016) is the fifth studio album from Audie Blaylock and Redline, marking the return of banjoist Evan Ward to the lineup alongside Patrick McAvinue on fiddle and Billy Hurt. Recorded at Scott Vestal's Digital Underground Studio, the album includes the theme song for the Travel Channel series Back Road Gold — extending Blaylock's traditional bluegrass reach into a television context. The band's previous recordings had appeared on Rural Rhythm and the 615 Hideaway imprint; the Patuxent Music label, a Maryland-based acoustic-music outlet, provided a new home for a project that maintained the uncompromising traditional commitment that has defined Blaylock's work since the band's 2009 debut. The Road That Winds is a characteristic installment in a discography built on the conviction that hard-driving traditional bluegrass requires no update.
