Tim O'Brien Band is a 2019 self-titled album released on Tim O'Brien's own Howdy Skies imprint that debuted at number one on the Billboard bluegrass chart. Produced by O'Brien, the record features him on vocals, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and octave mandolin, alongside Shad Cobb (fiddle, harmony vocals), Jan Fabricius (mandolin, lead and harmony vocals), Mike Bub (bass), and Patrick Sauber (banjo, guitar)—with Bryan Sutton sitting in on guitar for two tracks. Note: the catalog lists Jesse Wells as fiddler; Shad Cobb holds that role on the recording. The material ranges from old-time reels to original songs and Depression-era folk, performed with an intimacy reviewers compared to vintage Folkways recordings. It is O'Brien's most collaborative and traditionally focused studio statement in years.
