Weary River, released in 2015 on Patuxent (CD 270), is Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass's second album for Tom Mindte's Maryland label, roughly a decade into Paisley's tenure leading the band after his father Bob's 2004 death. Danny Paisley (lead vocals/guitar) leads a lineup with son Ryan Paisley on mandolin, Mark Delaney on banjo, T.J. Lundy on fiddle, and Eric Troutman on bass and vocals; guests include Russ Hooper on Dobro, Doug Meek on fiddle, and Mindte himself singing baritone on "Somewhere Between." The hard-driving traditional-bluegrass program continues the Southern Grass family lineage — Lundy is son of Ted Lundy, Bob Paisley's longtime co-founder — keeping the two-generation Paisley-Lundy partnership intact into a third decade.
