Willie Watson is a 2024 self-titled album released on Little Operation Records, distributed by Thirty Tigers, the singer's first recording of substantially original material after two volumes of traditional folk covers. Watson (guitar, vocals) is joined by Dylan Day (guitar), Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers, bass), and Sami Braman (fiddle), produced by Gabe Witcher (Punch Brothers) and Kenneth Pattengale (Milk Carton Kids). Recorded in Los Angeles, the album's six original songs—alongside traditional and adapted pieces including material drawn from Sterling A. Brown's poetry—mark a meaningful compositional turn in Watson's solo career after three decades of performing. Note: "Paul Knight" appears in the catalog personnel but is not credited on this recording; the bassist is Paul Kowert.
