The four had played in other bands before, among them the Hazel River Band and the Navy bluegrass band Dixie Almanac. Old Dirt Road, their first album, was self-released in 2011 and mixed and mastered by Mountain Fever Records. Seabolt sang most of the leads, and the band sang the gospel numbers in four-part harmony. His songs include “Runnin’ for the Border,” “I’ll Be Loving You,” “Memory Going Blind,” the title song and the sacred “Ready to Go,” written with Jimmy McQuinn and opening with an a cappella chorus. The other songs came from the McPeak Brothers (“Back to Dixie”), Carter Stanley (“Our Last Goodbye”), the Osborne Brothers (“Lonesome Feeling”), Del McCoury (“Henry Walker”) and Shannon Slaughter (“Lonesome Wind”), with Mason Wright as guest fiddler.
