“Sullivan County” is an original banjo tune by Russ Carson, recorded on his solo album “Last Chance.” Carson wrote it for a place that mattered to him — a family farm in Sullivan County, in upstate Pennsylvania, where relatives lived and where his family spent many happy years.
The piece is a banjo instrumental, a feature for Carson’s playing within a full bluegrass ensemble. On the recording he is joined by fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bass, the tune unfolding as a showcase for the band as much as for the banjo.
This recording features Carson himself on banjo, performing his own composition on “Last Chance.”
