Russ Carson
Russ Carson is a Pennsylvania-born banjoist who has held the banjo seat in Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder since 2014 — an alum of Audie Blaylock & Redline and Gold Heart, and a documentary photographer alongside his music career.
- Bluegrass banjoist from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, who started playing bluegrass at age 10.
- Father is a handcrafted-banjo builder and old-time fiddle/banjo player active since the early 1970s.
- Played banjo with Gold Heart (2009–2010) and then Audie Blaylock & Redline (joined 2010).
- Joined Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder as banjoist in 2014, his current role.
- Released solo album "Last Chance" (2011) on Patuxent Records.
- Released "Avenue of the Giants" (2014) on Patuxent Records.
- Has collaborated with Del & Ronnie McCoury, Bobby Osborne, Carl Jackson, Glen Duncan, and Lou Reid.
