April Verch
April Verch is a Canadian fiddler, step-dancer, and singer steeped in the Ottawa Valley tradition she grew up in, known for the rare feat of fiddling and step-dancing at the same time. A national champion as a teenager, she has led the touring April Verch Band internationally since 2000 across old-time, bluegrass, and Canadian fiddle repertoire.
- Born April 7, 1978, in Rankin, Ontario (near Pembroke); began step dancing at three and fiddle at six.
- Won the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship in 1997 and the Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship in 1998.
- Began touring with the April Verch Band in 2000.
