Bob Minner
Bob Minner is a Missouri-born flatpicking guitarist who has been Tim McGraw's lead acoustic guitarist for more than three decades, won the 2024 IBMA Song of the Year for "Fall in Tennessee," and built a deep parallel career as a bluegrass session player and Norman Blake tribute artist.
- Born 1966, raised in DeSoto, Missouri, near St. Louis; began playing guitar at age 2.5 and had his first radio gig at age 10 on KHAD AM.
- Two-time third-place winner at the Walnut Valley/Winfield National Flatpicking Championships (1986 and 1987).
- Multi-instrumentalist proficient on acoustic guitar, banjo (three-finger and clawhammer), fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and bass.
- Moved to Nashville in 1992–1993 and was hired as Tim McGraw's lead acoustic guitarist; has held the role for 30+ years.
- Played on multi-platinum McGraw albums including "Dancehall Doctors," "Live Like You Were Dying," "Southern Voice," and "Let It Go."
- Won the 2024 IBMA Song of the Year for "Fall in Tennessee," co-written with John Meador and recorded by Authentic Unlimited.
- Has bluegrass songwriting cuts with Blue Highway, Dailey & Vincent, Volume Five, and Special Consensus; signed to Billy Blue Publishing in 2024.
- Solo releases include "There And Back And Back Again" (2011), the hymns project "Six String Sanctuary" (2019), and a Norman Blake tribute "From Sulphur Springs To Rising Fawn" featuring an all-star cast.
