Ronnie Bowman’s self-titled album came out on Engelhardt Music Group (EMG 10225) on 8 November 2019. Bowman, who sang lead and played bass with the Lonesome River Band, recorded its twelve tracks at SonyTree Studios in Nashville with a core of Wyatt Rice on guitar and Aubrey Haynie on fiddle or mandolin. Banjo duties are shared by Scott Vestal, Rob McCoury and Bob Minner, and the harmony singers include Garnet Imes Bowman, Dan Tyminski and Del McCoury.
Six of the twelve songs are by other writers: Cowboy Copas’s “Alabam,” with Del McCoury and Bobby Bare trading verses with Bowman; Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade of Love”; Allen Mills’s “Love of the Mountains”; Charlie Moore and Bill Napier’s “Truck Driver’s Queen”; and “Matterhorn,” written by Mel Tillis and Fred Burch. Chris Stapleton sings with Bowman on the Osborne Brothers’ “Gonna Be Raining When I Die.” The other six are Bowman originals and co-writes, among them “I’d Rather Be a Memory” (with Buddy Cannon and Larry Bastian), “Hey Lord It’s Me” (with Don Cook) and “You Cut the Ties” (with Dean Dillon and Ted Walker).
