Jim Smoak
Jim Smoak is an American bluegrass banjo player and instructional author.
- Born in South Carolina, he played in Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in 1952 and 1953.
- Played banjo on Monroe recordings including “Little Georgia Rose.”
- Later played with Little Jimmy Dickens and with Hylo Brown and the Timberliners.
- Wrote some of the first three-finger banjo instructional books in the 1970s.
