Jimmy Day

Jimmy Day (1934–1999) was one of the defining pedal steel players in country music. He played the steel on Ray Price’s “Crazy Arms,” joined Price’s Cherokee Cowboys in Nashville, and worked with Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves and Lefty Frizzell before spending years in Willie Nelson’s band. Players still study his tone and his phrasing on the E9 neck.
