In 1990 he was part of the Virginia Boys, the band behind Jim and Jesse McReynolds, alongside Tom Ewing, Raymond McLain, Glen Duncan and Roy “Junior” Huskey. He is credited on guitar on the brothers’ gospel album I’m Gonna Sing, Sing, Sing, recorded that summer at Fox Farm Recording Studio in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, for the Double J label, and an account of the band at that time lists him and Huskey on bass.

As the principal agent of Class Act Entertainment in Nashville he booked bluegrass and Americana acts, and in May 2015 he was elected to the IBMA board in the seat for agents, managers and publicists. By 2017 his roster included Del McCoury, the Travelin’ McCourys, Hot Rize, Sierra Hull, the Gibson Brothers and Balsam Range. That October, after twenty-six years running Class Act, he moved his booking and management work to Rainmaker Music Management, keeping Class Act as a buying agency.
