Renfro Proffitt
Renfro Proffitt was an American bluegrass guitarist from Richlands, Virginia, known for his crosspicking lead guitar with Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys.
- Born Troy Leen Proffitt in 1950, he took up the guitar at age ten.
- Played with the Virginia Drifters before joining Ralph Stanley.
- Was a member of Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys from 1976 through 1977.
- Was given the nickname “Renfro” by Ralph Stanley, after Renfro Valley, Kentucky.
- Died in 2019.
