“Some Day” is a gospel song by Blue Highway, the acclaimed contemporary bluegrass band, recorded for their 1998 album “Midnight Storm.” By the band’s account, it began as a poem one member brought to a practice session, and the melody came almost at once as the group started to sing it; Tim Stafford supplied the music.
The song is performed a cappella, in tight, unaccompanied harmony — a hopeful meditation on the promise of a better day to come, in this life or the next. That stark, voices-only setting gave the song an unusual intimacy and power.
