A Song For Everyone cover

A Song for Everyone (Rebel Records REB-1655, 1987) is a late-career studio album from Virginia-born guitarist and vocalist Bill Harrell and his Virginians, recorded in Roanoke. Harrell plays guitar and sings lead; Darrell Sanders plays banjo and resonator guitar; Paul Adkins plays mandolin; Ward Stout, Carl Nelson, and Travis Whetzel each contribute fiddle; and Ed Ferris holds the bass. Harrell, who built his reputation as a sideman with Don Reno and others before leading his own band, maintained the traditional Virginia bluegrass identity that anchored his long performing career. The three-fiddle configuration gives the album an unusually full string-section texture for a small-ensemble bluegrass recording, and the project documents a working band comfortable with the traditional repertoire and capable of supporting Harrell's direct, unpretentious vocal style.
