A Tribute to Bill Monroe

The Infamous Stringdusters

Album · 2021 · Americana Vibes AV 025

A Tribute to Bill Monroe is a seven-song release by the Infamous Stringdusters, issued on 9 July 2021 by Americana Vibes (AV 025) as a 45 rpm vinyl record. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the album was recorded with each member working in his own home studio rather than together in a room. The lineup is Andy Falco on guitar, Chris Pandolfi on banjo, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Hall on Dobro and Travis Book on bass; Falco also mixed the record.

Every song is credited to Bill Monroe: “My Sweet Blue-Eyed Darlin’,” “Dark as the Night,” “Sitting Alone in the Moonlight,” “Toy Heart,” “Travelin’ Down This Lonesome Road” and “The Little Girl and the Dreadful Snake,” along with the instrumental “Old Dangerfield.”

The album was one of five nominees for Best Bluegrass Album at the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022, alongside Billy Strings’s Renewal, Sturgill Simpson’s Cuttin’ Grass – Vol. 1 and Rhonda Vincent’s Music Is What I See; the award went to Béla Fleck’s My Bluegrass Heart.
