Anna and Elizabeth, released in 2015 on Free Dirt Records, is the self-titled second album by the Appalachian ballad duo of Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle. The set runs sixteen traditional songs from the Southern mountains and northern British Isles, arranged mostly for close-harmony voice with minimal banjo, fiddle, or unaccompanied delivery; Joey Abarta adds uilleann pipes to "Orfeo." Mentored by old-time singer Alice Gerrard, the pair were touring at the time with hand-cranked illustrated scrolls called crankies — old-time visual storytelling devices that turned each show into a moving-picture ballad performance. The recording is archival in spirit, leaning toward the spare, reverent end of the field-collection tradition rather than the stringband revival.
