Album · 2009 · Rural Rhythm RHY-CD 1042

Audie Blaylock & Redline (Rural Rhythm RHY-CD 1042) was released on 27 January 2009 and is the first album under the Redline name. Blaylock was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Lansing, Michigan. He joined Jimmy Martin’s Sunny Mountain Boys on mandolin in 1982 and stayed nine years, later sang and played guitar with Rhonda Vincent & The Rage from 1999 to 2003, and reactivated Redline after his time with Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper.

The album was cut at Digital Underground Recording Studio, with Scott Vestal as engineer and Blaylock as producer. Blaylock plays guitar and sings lead on most tracks, with Evan Ward on banjo, Jason Johnson on mandolin, Patrick McAvinue on fiddle and Matt Wallace on bass. Rodney Worley plays mandolin on “Lonesome Weary Heart.” Johnson takes the lead vocal on “Who’ll Sing for Me?” and “Mountain Laurel in Bloom,” with Blaylock singing tenor, and Ward sings baritone on most of the tracks. Carl Jackson wrote the liner notes.

The twelve tracks include “Whispering Waters,” “My Darling’s Last Goodbye,” “Send Me Your Address from Heaven” and “Roll On Blues.” Blaylock died at his home in Auburn, Indiana, in January 2024, at the age of 61.
