Blind Dog cover

Blind Dog (Rounder 0254, 1988) is a duo album by Norman Blake and his wife Nancy Blake, recorded at Soundscope Studios in Atlanta in September 1987. Norman (guitar, mandolin) and Nancy (cello) work through a program of originals and traditional material drawn from Blake's deep immersion in Southern acoustic music, with the unusual pairing of flat-picked guitar and classically trained cello at the album's sonic center. The record received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Folk Recording at the 31st Grammy Awards, one of four such nominations the Blakes earned on Rounder during this period. It stands as one of the defining documents of the Blake duo format and an essential entry in one of acoustic music's most distinctive partnerships.
