"Blinded By the Rose," released in 1995 on the Dutch label Strictly Country Records (SCR 40), is the debut solo album of Arkansas-born bluegrass singer, flat-pick guitarist, and songwriter Chris Jones, recorded at Suite 2000 in Nashville. The album features a strong cast: Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Barry Bales (bass), Ron Block (banjo, guitar), Mike Compton (mandolin), and Rob Ickes (dobro), among others. The title track spent over twelve months on the National Bluegrass Survey chart. Jones later became the host of SiriusXM's Bluegrass Junction and founder of Chris Jones & The Night Drivers; this debut established him as a soulful, melodically sophisticated vocalist and songwriter in the contemporary bluegrass vein and remains the essential early document of his recording career.
