Bluegrass at Its Peak is a 1973 album released by the McPeak Brothers on Major Records (MRC-2050). The Wytheville, Virginia trio—Mike McPeak (guitar, lead vocals), Dewey McPeak (banjo, guitar, vocals), and Larry McPeak (bass, guitar, vocals)—are joined by Mickey Connor (mandolin), Jim Buchanan (fiddle), and Lloyd Green (resonator guitar) for a program of traditional mountain bluegrass that showcases the family's close vocal blend and sure-handed instrumental work. Their television exposure on Mel Tillis's syndicated program broadened their audience and led to a subsequent deal with RCA Victor. The album stands as an early statement from one of the mid-Atlantic region's most accomplished brother-act trios of the early 1970s.
