Boots No. 1: The Official Revival Bootleg is a 2016 Acony Records release by Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, compiled from the vaults on the twentieth anniversary of Welch's debut album Revival (1996). The twenty-one-track collection draws on outtakes, alternate versions, and nine previously unreleased recordings spanning sessions from 1993 through the final mixing of Revival in late 1995. Upright bassist Roy Huskey Jr. appears on select tracks alongside session players from the original album, including James Burton and Buddy Harman. Welch and Rawlings personally curated the recordings from analog tape, presenting a rare window into the making of a landmark record — one that had established their spare, timeless sound and anchored a revival of old-time American songcraft in the mid-1990s.
