Album · 2006 · Sugar Hill SUG-CD 3947

Come Along With Me was released in 2002 by Sugar Hill (SUG-CD-3947) under the name Baucom, Bibey & BlueRidge. Banjoist Terry Baucom and mandolinist Alan Bibey had worked together since The New Quicksilver in the mid-1980s, and Bibey’s band reformed in 1997 as Baucom, Bibey and BlueRidge. Junior Sisk, who joined in 2002, sings lead on most of the record and plays guitar, with Ed Biggerstaff on bass. Ron Stewart plays fiddle on most tracks, with Dewey Brown on “Prayer Bells of Heaven,” “Rock Hearts” and “The New John Henry Blues.”

The thirteen tracks were recorded at Eastwood Recording Studio in Cana, Virginia, and the album is produced by Bibey, Baucom and BlueRidge, with Wes Easter engineering. Four-part vocals with Sisk on lead, Biggerstaff on tenor, Bibey on baritone and Baucom on bass carry songs such as “Prayer Bells of Heaven,” “Rock Hearts,” “My Lord’s Going to Set Me Free” and the title song. Bibey takes the lead on “Livin’ It Up,” Biggerstaff sings “The New John Henry Blues,” and “Vandiver” is an instrumental. BlueRidge recorded a follow-up, Side by Side, for Sugar Hill in 2004, and the group disbanded in 2006 when Bibey left to form Grasstowne.
