Country Music Memories, Vol. 1 was released by Old Homestead (OHS 90134) in 1982 and credited to Charlie Moore & His Dixie Partners. The twelve tracks were made at Old Homestead Studios in Brighton, Michigan, in 1975, and John W. Morris of the label is credited as producer and engineer. A second volume, OHS 90135, appeared alongside it.

The program is mostly older country and sentimental songs: “Broken Engagement,” “Handsome Molly,” “Letter Edged in Black,” “Lorena the Slave,” “Knoxville Girl” and “Hills of Roane County,” among others. Moore sings lead and plays guitar, and Billy Constable sings the tenor part. The band on most tracks is Billy Constable (guitar, banjo, autoharp), Johnny Dacus (fiddle), Larry Jefferson and Nolan Faulkner (mandolins), Lois Constable-Moore (guitar, autoharp) and Eddy Lovelace (bass). Terry Baucom plays fiddle and Henry Dockery bass on “Broken Engagement,” and Al Osteen plays banjo and Steve Whalen fiddle on “Handsome Molly.”

Moore was born in Piedmont, South Carolina, in 1935, started a new version of the Dixie Partners in 1970 and began recording for Old Homestead in 1973. He died on 24 December 1979, a little over four years after these sessions.
