Cryin' Heart Blues, released in 2010 on Rural Rhythm (RHY 1060), is Audie Blaylock and Redline's third album and second for the label. Blaylock (guitar/lead vocals) leads a quartet with Evan Ward on banjo, Patrick McAvinue on fiddle and mandolin, and Matt Wallace on bass through thirteen hard-driving tracks engineered and mixed by Scott Vestal at Digital Underground. Blaylock had spent the 1990s as Jimmy Martin's lead guitarist and tenor singer, and this set is effectively his statement of inheritance of that Sunny Mountain Boys style — punching tempos, lead-vocal-up-front mixes, and a band built to push him. The repertoire mixes Blaylock originals with classic-bluegrass covers in a sound widely compared to Martin's Good 'N' Country.
