Gettin’ Ready cover

Gettin’ Ready is a gospel album by BlueRidge, released in 2006 on Pinecastle Records (PRC 1150). In January 2006 it was announced for release in early March. The band was Alan Bibey on mandolin and vocals, Junior Sisk on guitar and lead vocals, Joey Cox on banjo, Alan Johnson on fiddle, guitar and bass vocals, and Ed Biggerstaff on bass and vocals. It was recorded at Eastwood Recording Studio in Cana, Virginia, and produced by the band with Wes Easter; Sonya Isaacs sings with Bibey on “Won’t They Be Surprised.”

The twelve tracks, counting the closing gospel medley as one, mix new songs with traditional ones. Harry Sisk Jr. and Tim Massey wrote “Don’t You Want to Go There,” Massey and Rick Pardue wrote “Lead Me Not,” David Rosson wrote “Won’t They Be Surprised,” David and Anne P. Johnson wrote “Rock Foundation,” Paul Humphrey wrote “I’m Goin’ Up When He Starts Down,” and Harry Sisk Sr. wrote “The Bridge” and, with his son, “Light in the Forest.” Bibey wrote “This Journey I’m On.” “He Will Set Your Fields on Fire” and “Do You Call That Religion” are credited as traditional, and the medley strings together “Get Down on Your Knees and Pray,” “Let Me Walk by Your Side,” “The Old Crossroads” and “Working on a Building.”

BlueRidge disbanded in late 2006. Sisk later formed a new Ramblers Choice, reviving the name of an earlier band he had been part of.
