I Can Hear Virginia Calling Me cover

I Can Hear Virginia Calling Me is a 1980 album by Bill Harrell and the Virginians released on Rebel Records (REB 1592), recorded in November 1978 at Track Recorders in Silver Spring, Maryland, for Dick Freeland's label. Harrell (guitar, lead vocals) leads a cohesive mid-Atlantic bluegrass ensemble: Larry Stephenson (mandolin, tenor vocals), Carl Nelson (fiddle), Darrell Sanders (banjo), Ed Ferris (bass), and Washington, D.C. dobro master Mike Auldridge. Auldridge's fluid slide work gives the record its defining character, most audibly on the instrumental "Martinsburg March." The set blends original material with traditional bluegrass numbers, capturing the Virginians at their most cohesive and representing the stable lineup that would anchor Harrell's Rebel output through the early 1980s.
