Jean Ritchie and Doc Watson at Folk City is a 1963 Folkways Records live album (FA 2426), recorded by George Pickow at Gerde's Folk City — the Greenwich Village club that served as the central venue of the early-1960s folk revival and the stage on which Bob Dylan made his first professional appearances. Introduced to each other by folklorist Ralph Rinzler shortly before the concert, Kentucky dulcimer player Jean Ritchie and North Carolina guitarist Doc Watson performed mountain ballads, spirituals, and dance tunes that revealed the common roots of their distinct regional traditions. The album was reissued by Smithsonian Folkways in 1990 with three additional tracks. Note: the catalog personnel omits Jean Ritchie herself, who is a co-headlining artist — this appears to be a data entry error.
