Less Than Supper, released in May 2004 on Big Blue Zoo Records, is Greensky Bluegrass's debut studio album, recorded by a lineup that did not survive the year. Paul Hoffman (mandolin), Dave Bruzza (guitar), and Michael Arlen Bont (banjo) anchor the band, with Chris Carr on bass and Al Bates on Dobro; both Carr and Bates departed in 2004, with Mike Devol arriving on bass that fall. The set is straight-ahead acoustic bluegrass from the Kalamazoo trio-plus-two, before the band's later jam-grass turn at festivals — the original Greensky aesthetic preserved on tape. The record is now a curiosity to fans who came to the band through the post-Anders Beck Dobro era.
