"Live and Well," recorded in December 2002 at Celebrity Theater in Dollywood and released in September 2004 on Sugar Hill Records (SUG-CD 3998), documents Parton performing with her touring bluegrass ensemble, the Blueniques. Dobro player Randy Kohrs is among the featured instrumentalists alongside fiddler Jimmy Mattingly and banjoist Gary Davis. The set draws from "The Grass Is Blue," "Little Sparrow," and "Halos & Horns" alongside career-spanning hits — "Jolene," "9 to 5," "Coat of Many Colors" — with Parton playing guitar, harmonica, dulcimer, and penny whistle throughout. Released simultaneously with a DVD, the album serves as the definitive live document of Parton's bluegrass-period concert performance and a summation of the acoustic trilogy that had reshaped her catalog's critical standing.
