Live in Holland cover

Live in Holland, released in 1991 on the Dutch label Strictly Country (SCR 25), captures Bob Paisley and the Southern Grass before an audience in the Netherlands, where the Pennsylvania band had built an unusually devoted following. Paisley led one of the most uncompromisingly traditional acts in bluegrass, and the set runs through Monroe- and Stanley-era standards — 'Dark Hollow,' 'Train 45,' 'My Home's Across the Blue Ridge Mountains' — delivered with the hard, unvarnished drive that was the band's trademark. Bob Paisley sang and played guitar alongside his son Dan Paisley, with Randall Boring on banjo, Joe Allison on mandolin, Leroy Mumma on fiddle, and Mike Paisley on bass. The Paisleys had been touring Holland since the early 1980s, and Strictly Country became the family band's archival home — the rare case of a deeply traditional American bluegrass act whose live legacy was documented most fully in Europe.
