Living on the Other Side, released by Rounder Records in 1996, is IIIrd Tyme Out's all-gospel album from the classic lineup of Russell Moore, Ray Deaton, Mike Hartgrove, Wayne Benson, and Steve Dilling. The program includes Lester Flatt's I'm Working on a Road to Gloryland — featuring guest guitar from Earl Scruggs himself, in one of his rare late-career bluegrass studio appearances — which became a top-ten country hit and was named IBMA Song of the Year. The album's success consolidated IIIrd Tyme Out's place at the top of the contemporary bluegrass-gospel field and pointed toward the awards run that would soon follow.
