Old Sport is a fiddle album by John Hartford and Jim “Texas Shorty” Chancellor, released in 1994 on Hartford’s own label, Small Dog a’Barkin’ (SCD-494CD). Its thirteen tracks are old-time fiddle tunes: “Miller’s Reel,” “Liverpool Hornpipe,” “Midnight on the Water,” “Lady’s Fancy,” “Snowbird on the Ash Bank,” “Bonaparte’s Retreat,” “Jack-O-Diamonds” and the title tune “Old Sport,” among them.

Chancellor, born in Dallas County, Texas, in 1943, learned fiddle from the Texas contest champion Benny Thomasson. He was the youngest fiddler to win the World Championship at Crockett, Texas, and the second to win it three years running (1955–57). His honors include five Texas State Championships, membership in the Texas Fiddler Hall of Fame, and a 2010 National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
