Pull Your Savior In was released in October 2014 on Whysper Dream Music, the Larry Stephenson Band’s own label, in honor of the band’s 25th anniversary. It is an all-gospel record; Stephenson wrote in the liner notes that it was only the band’s fifth all-gospel CD. Ben Surratt produced it with Stephenson, and it was recorded at the Rec Room in Nashville in March 2014.
Stephenson plays mandolin and sings lead on most tracks. Colby Laney is on guitar and takes the lead vocal on “If You Want to Live Forever” and “Morningtime Always,” Kenny Ingram is on banjo (and lead guitar on “Come to Jesus Moment”), and Danny Stewart plays bass. Jimmy Fortune, who sang tenor for the Statler Brothers for 21 years, sings tenor on “Amazing Grace,” the opening track, with David Parmley on baritone and Dale Perry on bass vocals. Aubrey Haynie is also among the guests.
Stephenson wrote the title song. The other writers include the Louvin Brothers (“Born Again”), Lester Flatt (“Thank God I’m on My Way”), Albert Brumley (“Prettiest Flowers Will Be Blooming”), Rick Stanley and Donna Ulisse (“Come to Jesus Moment”), and Randall Hylton and Cadillac Holmes (“If You Want to Live Forever”). “How Great Thou Art” and “Let the Lower Lights Be Burning” are also on the record. Physical copies carry a bonus track. The album won the 2015 SPBGMA Album of the Year award.
