Radio Broadcasts 1957-58, released by Copper Creek Records in 1991, preserves Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper performances from the brief stretch in 1957 and 1958 when they were settling in to the Grand Ole Opry — the move from West Virginia to Nashville that established them as one of country music's great husband-and-wife traditional acts. The recordings come from transcription discs cut for radio broadcast, capturing the working sound of their Clinch Mountain Clan in the studio and live arrangements before the years of touring and recording that would define their long careers. The Coopers had spent fifteen years building their working partnership by then; the broadcasts catch them at the threshold of their national arrival.
