"Ready to Go," released in 2000 on Sugar Hill Records (SHCD-3906), is the debut solo album of flat-pick guitarist Bryan Sutton, produced at 1103 Studios in Nashville. The record features Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Dennis Crouch (bass), Rob Ickes (dobro), Ricky Skaggs (mandolin), and a guest vocal by Dolly Parton, among others. Sutton won the IBMA Guitar Player of the Year award the same year of release, and the album's range — from old-time mountain pieces to a Django-inflected duet with Haynie on "Minor Swing" to a bluegrass reading of U2's "One" — announced a flat-picker of unusual stylistic breadth. The record established Sutton as a major instrumental voice in bluegrass and opened his decades-long career as Nashville's most sought-after session guitarist.
