Remains to Be Scene is a 2025 album released by the Seldom Scene on Smithsonian Folkways (SFW40248), the band's 24th studio recording and their first on the storied label. The post-founding-era lineup—Dudley Connell (guitar, lead vocals), Lou Reid (mandolin, vocals), Fred Travers (dobro, vocals), Ron Stewart (banjo, fiddle), and Ronnie Simpkins (bass)—delivers a program spanning Bob Dylan, The Kinks, and Jim Croce alongside bluegrass standards, consistent with the band's long tradition of genre-blurring eclecticism. The album serves as a farewell for Connell, who retired at the end of 2024 after nearly three decades with the Scene, and was completed following the death of founding banjoist Ben Eldridge, who contributed liner notes before his passing.
