Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a 1988 album released by the Lonesome River Band on Rebel Records (REB 1660). The lineup—Tim Austin (guitar, vocals), Adam Steffey (mandolin, vocals), Brian Fesler (banjo), Steve Thomas (fiddle), and Jerry McMillan (bass)—reflects the band's early Rebel-era configuration before Sammy Shelor assumed the banjo chair. Adam Steffey, who would go on to win multiple IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year awards, contributes here in one of his earliest recorded outings, already hinting at the technical and improvisational abilities that would later define his career. The album exemplifies the Virginia band's early commitment to Stanley Brothers–rooted traditional bluegrass.
