Album · 1966 · Rural Rhythm RR GREER 152

Stars of the WWVA Jamboree: Old Time Country Music is a 1966 Rural Rhythm Records album (RR GREER 152) by Jim Greer & The Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks, a West Liberty, Ohio–based string band that joined the Wheeling Jamboree cast in 1965. Greer (banjo) led an ensemble that included his sister Valeda (guitar), Bob McPherson (guitar, mandolin), Dalton Burroughs (bass), John Wentz (dobro), and Aaron Hicks (fiddle). The Wheeling Jamboree — broadcasting since 1933 on 50,000-watt WWVA AM in Wheeling, West Virginia — ranked alongside the Grand Ole Opry and the WLS National Barn Dance as a major barn-dance radio institution. The Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks performed on alternate Saturdays until disbanding in the early 1970s, leaving three Rural Rhythm LPs as their recorded legacy.
