Stringworks is a 2016 Mountain Home Music Company album (MH-16602) by Kristin Scott Benson, the four-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year recognized as one of bluegrass's foremost banjo voices. The album alternates instrumental showcases with vocal cuts, featuring a rotating cast of guests: Adam Haynes on fiddle, Cody Kilby on guitar, Wayne Benson on mandolin, and Terry Eldredge, John Bryan, and others as vocalists. The opening track "Great Waterton" earned an IBMA Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year nomination. Benson's long tenure with The Grascals established her as the rare banjo player with equal authority in lead, rhythmic, and accompanying roles, and Stringworks presents that full range in a single project across a program of originals and carefully chosen covers.
