The Jim and Jesse Show

Jim & Jesse

Album · 1972 · DJM 22067

The Jim and Jesse Show (DJM Records 22067) is a live or broadcast recording from Jim and Jesse McReynolds, the Coeburn, Virginia brothers whose sibling bluegrass partnership had sustained one of the genre's most durable performing careers since their earliest Sims Valley Boys recordings in the late 1940s, presented here for the British independent label that documented their work for European audiences. Jim McReynolds plays guitar and sings lead; Jesse McReynolds plays mandolin and sings; Vic Jordan plays banjo; Keith McReynolds plays guitar; Bob Minner and Jimmy Brock contribute additional instrumental work. DJM Records provided an outlet for American traditional performers building audiences in the United Kingdom and Europe during a period when the British bluegrass audience had grown large enough to sustain dedicated documentation of visiting American acts.
