The Old Apple Tree, a recording associated with Molly and Jack Tuttle, offers an early glimpse of Molly Tuttle before her emergence as one of the most celebrated guitarists and vocalists in contemporary bluegrass. Tuttle, the daughter of flatpicking guitarist Jack Tuttle, grew up steeped in the music through her father's teaching and the Bay Area acoustic music community. Molly Tuttle would go on to become the first woman to win the IBMA Guitar Player of the Year award, and this early recording documents the informal musical environment that produced one of the genre's most gifted contemporary practitioners.
