The Wonderful World of Bluegrass Music (United Artists Records UAL 3293, 1963) is a studio album from Don Reno and Bill Harrell and the Tennessee Cut-Ups, recorded after Red Smiley's retirement from touring and documenting Reno's new partnership with the Virginia-born guitarist and vocalist. Reno plays banjo and sings; Harrell plays guitar and sings lead; Charles "Buck" Ryan plays fiddle; Ed Ferris holds the bass; and Jimmy Lunsford plays guitar. Reno and Harrell's partnership extended the Tennessee Cut-Ups recording franchise through the 1960s, delivering the same technical bluegrass Reno had established with Smiley while Harrell's baritone provided a commercial directness distinct from Smiley's more ornate vocal style. The United Artists album documents the new configuration at an early, energetic phase of their collaboration.
