This Land Is Your Land: The Asch Recordings, Vol. 1 is a 1997 compilation released by Smithsonian Folkways (SFW 40100), the first of four volumes gathering Woody Guthrie's recordings made for Moses "Moe" Asch in New York City, primarily in 1944 with additional sessions through 1949. Guthrie (guitar, vocals) performs solo or with Cisco Houston across twenty-seven tracks, including the original version of "This Land Is Your Land" featuring previously unissued socially critical verses. Compiled and annotated by Jeff Place and Guy Logsdon with a 36-page booklet, the four-volume Asch Recordings series was released simultaneously in February 1997. Note: the catalog lacks the label (Smithsonian Folkways) and catalog number (SFW 40100).
