Wheels, released in 2008 on Rounder Records, is Dan Tyminski's second solo album and a demonstration of why his Union Station bandmates and Nashville's session community regarded him as one of the most complete vocalists and guitarists in acoustic music. Tyminski, whose voice audiences first encountered on the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack singing 'Man of Constant Sorrow,' used Wheels to assert an identity independent of the Alison Krauss orbit. 'Who Showed Who' leans into original songwriting that matched what Union Station was producing at its peak, while 'Whose Shoulder Will You Cry On' demonstrated his ease with classic country heartbreak material. Wheels confirmed that Tyminski was a major artist in his own right.
