Contemporary Bluegrass Gospel

The Po' Ramblin' Boys are one of the leading hard-traditional bluegrass acts of the modern era, a band that started as the house lineup at Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Gatlinburg and grew into a Grammy-nominated, Smithsonian Folkways-recording festival headliner with a vintage stage aesthetic and a no-compromises hard-driving sound.

  • Formed in 2014 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee when CJ Lewandowski — then working at Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery — was asked by the distillery to put together a house band.
  • Anchored by Lewandowski (mandolin / bandleader), Jereme Brown (banjo), Jasper Lorentzen (bass), and a rotating guitar / fiddle lineup that has included Josh Rinkel and Laura Orshaw; current members include John Gooding (guitar) and Max Silverstein (fiddle).
  • Released Back to the Mountains (2016, Randm) and the gospel album God's Love is So Divine (2019) before signing with Rounder Records and releasing Toil, Tears and Trouble in 2019.
  • Won the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2018; have been five-time IBMA Entertainer of the Year nominees.
  • Earned a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album at the 61st Grammys for Toil, Tears & Trouble; the album's "Next Train South" won SPBGMA Song of the Year in 2020.
  • Made their Grand Ole Opry debut on October 1, 2019.
  • Released Wanderers Like Me on Smithsonian Folkways in 2024; the title track reached #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited chart.
  • Trademark vintage aesthetic — matching suits, fedoras, throwback stage presence — has become a recognizable signature on the festival circuit.
