The band on the record was Rice and Menzone with Rob Ickes on Dobro, Fred Carpenter on fiddle, Adam Steffey on mandolin and Wyatt’s brother Ron Rice on bass, with Eric Seay as a guest bassist on Menzone’s “Gray Rain.” Seven of the twelve tracks are instrumentals: six by Menzone, among them “Wake Up Call,” “Cutting the Chords,” “Gray Rain” and “Faith, Hope and Love,” and Bill Keith’s banjo piece “Beating Around the Bush.”

The five vocal songs went to guest singers. Russell Moore sang Donna Hughes’s “Lonesome Highway,” which opens the album, and Elmer Burchett’s “Big Black Wheels”; Don Rigsby sang “I Know What It Means to Be Lonesome” and an up-tempo version of Moon Mullican’s “I’ll Sail My Ship Alone”; and Richard Bennett sang lead on Tom T. Hall’s “Another Town,” a song associated with Keith Whitley and J. D. Crowe.
