“Buried in a Cape” is an original instrumental by the mandolinist Andrew Marlin, known for his work in the duo Mandolin Orange, later renamed Watchhouse. It is the title track of his 2018 solo album, a collection of original tunes he recorded in Nashville.
The piece sits in the contemporary acoustic and progressive-bluegrass vein that Marlin favors — music that draws on old-time and bluegrass roots while reaching for a softer, more reflective mood. On the album it is set among a small ensemble of mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and bass.
This recording features Marlin himself on mandolin, leading the band through the tune that gave his solo instrumental album its name.
